Below is a list of opportunities that are appropriate for students attending the AIP Summer Meeting.

AIP-AINSE Travel Award

Suitable for – Students from all AINSE member organisations

Closing Date – 15th October 2025

The AIP Summer Meeting is proudly sponsored by AINSE. Thanks to this sponsorship, the AIP Summer Meeting Committee has received funding to support travel to the conference in a fair, diverse, and equitable manner. This travel award provides financial assistance that can be used toward the cost of flights to the conference.

AIP Student Travel Award – AIP Summer Meeting Special Round

Suitable for – Student Members of the Australian Institute of Physics

Closing Date – 31st October 2025

Applications for AIP Student Travel Awards to attend the 2025 AIP Summer Meeting are now open. To apply, you must have been a financial member of the AIP for at least six months prior to the application deadline. Applicants must be presenting a paper (oral or poster) at the Summer Meeting.

Please note that travel grants are not available to (free) Student Associates. Join or upgrade to full membership now to ensure that you are eligible for support to attend future events.

AIP Summer Meeting Undergraduate Student Award

Suitable for – Undergraduate Students

Closing Date – 1st September 2025

Thanks to generous sponsorship from Swinburne University of Technology, we are able to offer a limited number of free undergraduate student awards to cover the registration fee for the conference. (This includes access to all scientific sessions, morning and afternoon teas and lunches.  This does not include the optional social activities such as the Gala dinner or the breakfasts).

Suitable for – All Students

AIP full student members receive discounted registration costs on all AIP conferences.

Student Networking Afternoon Tea

Suitable for – All students

When – Wednesday Afternoon

Where – TBA

An afternoon tea will be convened especially for students to attend and network. Exact format to be determined – by student representatives.

Concept

A hands-on grant writing workshop for ECRs.  with advice from former ARC College of Experts members.

Pre-Work

One week before the workshop applicants must prepare a one page project proposal. Instructions for the proposal can be found here. This project proposal must be emailed as a PDF to ECRworkshop2025@qed.physics.unsw.edu.au one week before the workshop. No submissions after 5pm AEST Monday 24 November will be accepted.

Participants must also complete and submit this google form by the 24th November, 5pm AEST.
