Train
Notice: Buses will replace trains to Wollongong on Sunday the 30th of December. Please allow extra time to travel from the airport to Wollongong. Please consult Trip Planner to plan your travel.
A train service to Wollongong operates every 30 to 60 minutes. From Sydney Airport, take a train heading away from the city to Wolli Creek. Then transfer, by walking up two sets of stairs, to the South Coast Line, which terminates at Kiama or Wollongong, and disembark at Wollongong Station.

Airport Transfer Service
Several private transportation companies, such as Leisure Coast Limousine, offer an airport transfer service to Wollongong. Advance booking is recommended.

Car hire is available at Sydney Airport. Wollongong is approximately a 70-minute drive from the airport.

Transportation around Wollongong
Wollongong offers a free “Green Bus Service” on routes 55A and 55C looping through Wollongong CBD, Wollongong Station, the hospital, the University of Wollongong (UOW) and the Innovation Campus.
The service operates in a loop in both directions:
- 55A = anti‑clockwise loop
- 55C = clockwise loop
